I can’t believe it’s July already! The first half of this year has flown by. So far, 2017 has been a good one. My commitment to publish goals every month has helped keep me on track. I won’t say it’s easy to sit down, set S.M.A.R.T. goals, and stick with them. But, sometimes the things you need to do aren’t easy or fun (Oil changes for example).
Last month my main goal was to write 5k a week. I didn’t quite hit that mark. I wrote every week, and got at least 2500 words written, but halfway there doesn’t count. I’m not upset about not hitting the goal, though. I did write two proposals (series blurbs and story synopsis) and got those to my agent. Proposals are not fun at all! I swear I need whiskey shots after each one, but, hey, they’re done now. I’m really proud of those story ideas. Fingers crossed for a successful future for those ideas.
I did make Saturday mornings my “business hours”. That was a smart move. The small things can slip through the cracks, so focusing on blog posts, book sales, promotions, etc. at a set time keeps my writing time during the week open.
July’s goals will be similar to June’s with one exception. I’m extremely busy in July. Two conferences (one for work, one RWA17), a deadline to complete a book, and my first recreational tennis league starts! I’m still all “what the hell was I thinking” on the tennis front, but that’s another story for another day.

My RITA finalist pin arrived. Talk about surreal!
July Goals:
- Finish WIP by August 1, 2017 (Geez, that’s a big one);
- Practice tennis and try not to suck in doubles game;
- Continue weekend business hours;
- Attend RWA17 (Can’t wait!!!)
Well, those are the plans for July. I’ll check in with you all in August with my results. I should also have a lot of fun stories and pictures from my tennis debut, work conference, and RWA attendance. That may have to be broken up into several updates, lol!
Happy July!
