What’s up my good people! Last week I realized that I am pretty much out of deadline hell. Even though I still have deadlines looming (contractual and self imposed), not having several right up on each other is pretty dern nice.
So, what have I been working on? Well, the last book in the Henderson Family series, From One Night to Forever, releases November 23. This is Aaron Henderson’s story, and he’s the last sibling, but I’ve got an idea for a spin off. I’m working the spin off into my self imposed deadline schedule.
This year I also had to work on the edits to my Harlequin Kimani debut, A New York Kind of Love which releases in January 2016. The edits for this novel often coincided with edits on Making it Real and getting the draft of From One Night to Forever completed. I am super excited about A New York Kind of Love, because I’ll finally get to see my novel on a store shelf. Silly, maybe, but that doesn’t stop me from being stoked.
This year I signed a contract to write two more novels for Kimani, my next is titled A Malibu Romance and it’ll be released in … August 2016, I believe. I’m writing that story now and it’s the only immediate, contracted deadline I have.
As for self imposed deadlines, well I really, really, really want/need to get back to my Caldwell Family series. I woke up about 2 months ago after I dream-plotted (my new phrase) the entire 3rd book in the series. Which of course means I need to get my butt to finish the 2nd book. I have a self imposed deadline to finish and get Renee Caldwell’s story out in the spring of 2016. I think I can do it.
After that, I have a spring contractual deadline and then it’s whatever happens from there. 2015 was a very good year for me writing wise, and I hope 2016 will be the same. Maybe there will be more contracts, maybe not. Only time will tell, but for now, I’ll just get through the end of this year and hope I get a chance to explore the spinoff and other new ideas floating around in my head next year.
I’m using the excitement of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) to push me toward my deadlines. Anyone else doing NaNoWriMo?
Synthia – things are looking good for you and I am glad since I am a big fan of yours. Yeah, get back to that Caldwell series! LOL
Enjoy your holidays – Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas!
Thanks, Jackie! I’m glad you enjoy my books. I’m working hard on them 🙂
I am so glad to hear that you are continuing the Caldwell series, but I’m also sad to see the Henderson series end. I am waiting for a New York Kind of Love that is on my Christmas break TBR pile. Keep doing what you do bring a freshness to romance that I haven’t seen in a long time.
Thank you, Tasha! It is sad to see the Henderson series end, but who knows, they may inspire me again 🙂
