This has been one fun filled, non-stop, summer. I’m a little sad to see it go. Even though I’m ready for the fun of fall.
I did a lot this summer. Hubby and I went to New York for our anniversary (technically in the spring) and saw Hamilton! This was all planned by him, so, yes, he’s a definite keeper.

Me & my love in the room where it happens!
I made my first trip to the West Coast and attended the RWA 2017 Conference in San Diego. I absolutely loved the weather in San Diego. Maybe because it was over 100 degrees in South Carolina, and the high there was in the mid seventies. I almost thought I’d need a sweater, lol.

Me and the fabulous Phyllis Bourne at RWA17.
I took my first cruise as part of my yearly ladies trip. My sister, cousin, and I totally rocked the Motown song and dance contest! Our karaoke performance received a request for an encore. Although I didn’t score as high as I wanted on the Harry Potter trivia contest (13 out of 20), I can still call myself a fan. Lol!

Surrounded by water. I should learn to swim.
I also went on my first camping trip while attending an outdoor women’s retreat. A weekend of archery, hunting basics, outdoor cooking, fishing (catching, cooking and consuming the fried catfish). While I had fun, two days sleeping on the ground in a tent is about my limit. Though a part of me wants to hike the Appalachian trail. Another part of me isn’t ready to commit to being that hard core. Maybe in retirement…lol. Hey, I did get an idea for a bear, shifter romance set along the trail…maybe one day.

2 out of 5 arrows hit every time!
Between the trips there were birthdays, weddings, family gatherings and day job shenanigans. Even though I had a great summer, one thing that suffered was my writing. Don’t get me wrong, I was productive. Love Me As I Am will be available in print next week (fingers crossed). I submitted a few proposals and finished revisions on my next Kimani release. I even wrote a business plan!
Still, I’m not where I want to be. Caldwell Family Book 3, Trust Me With Your Love, is giving me a little trouble. This will be Isaac Caldwell’s HEA. I think I’ve got a handle on what’s going on in Isaac’s mind–because, you know, he’s real in my mind–so I still hope to complete his story by the end of the year for a release in spring 2017.
Now that my big trips are over, I should be able to get back to the writing. Oh, and don’t forget to come see me Saturday October 15, 2016 at the Carolina Book Festival in Charlotte, NC. I’ll be signing copies of A Malibu Kind of Romance and Love Me As I Am.
How was your summer?
Glad you had a great summer!
