It’s the release week for my very first publisher Crimson Romance, so this week I’m continuing to celebrate by introducing you to another Crimson Romance writer. D’Ann Lindun writes romantic suspense and she’s here to tell you a bit about herself and her book. Enjoy!
Me: Tell me a little about yourself.
D’Ann Lindun: I draw inspiration from the area where I live, Western Colorado, my husband of twenty-nine years and our daughter. Composites of our small farm, herd of fourteen horses, five Australian shepherds, a Queensland heeler, eight ducks and cats of every shape and color often show up in my stories! My road to publication was long and rocky—twenty years of dashed hopes and crushed dreams before I got the call (email)!
Me:Describe your journey to becoming published?
DL: Falling in love with romance novels the summer before sixth grade, I never thought about writing one until many years later when I took a how-to class from Superromance author, Margot Early. I was hooked! I began writing and never looked back. I signed with two different agents, but didn’t sell. This year was my twentieth year writing, subbing and querying, and voila! Crimson called, followed shortly by Ruby Lioness Press.
DL: Her family ranch outside of Payson, Arizona, is the last place Castaña Castillo thought she’d ever see again. But when her mustang activist brother goes missing, Castaña returns home to lead the search. Years of bad blood between local law enforcement and the Castillo men lead Castaña to believe the local cops won’t put out much effort to locate her brother. Especially since they think he murdered two federal wildlife agents.
Disgraced FBI agent Jake Breton needs to bring in Martin Castillo to redeem himself and resurrect his career. Falling in love with someone related to the suspect is the last thing he can afford to do. The last time he followed his heart, and not his head, it nearly cost him his life.
Danger, adventure, and death push Jake and Castaña together. Will they learn to trust each other and leave their pasts behind?
Me: Who or what inspires you as a writer?
DL: My daughter whose unfailing faith in me sustains me. My CPs, who are awesome. Where I live. I can look outside at the mountains, and they always give me a sense of awe.
My note: Okay, who wouldn’t be inspired by a mountain view? I know I would 🙂
Me: When do you make time for writing?
DL: I work PT in retail, and I have four days off. With a farm and a lot of animals, there’s always something going on. I usually work on my book late at night because I’m a night owl.
Me: Why do you write romance?
DL: Hot men. Women who get things done. Happily ever after.
My note: Can I get an Amen!
Me: What advice do you have for other writers?
DL: Don’t give up. I got over 200 rejections before I got the call.
Thanks so much to D’Ann for stopping by and telling us about your book. You can keep up with D’Ann through her website and be sure to hook up with her on Facebook.
